What is FivePrayer?
FivePrayer is a warm, quiet companion for the five daily prayers. The app calculates accurate prayer times based on your location, sends a gentle reminder at adhan, locks your phone so you can pray without distraction, and tracks your prayer streak so you can build consistency over weeks and months.
FivePrayer is available as a native iOS app, a native Android app, and a Chrome extension. The whole core experience, including prayer times, Qibla compass, prayer tracking, streaks, and the phone lock at adhan, is free forever. There are no ads, no accounts required, and no data sold.
Why we built FivePrayer
Most prayer apps either bury the user under settings, harvest data for advertisers, or fill the screen with banners. We wanted the opposite: a quiet, well-designed app that does one thing well, which is helping Muslims pray on time without judgment and without scrolling past the adhan.
FivePrayer was born from a simple frustration. The adhan would play, the phone would buzz, and a moment later we'd be scrolling Instagram or answering a Slack message. The app's signature feature, the phone lock at adhan, was designed to break that loop. The phone stays quiet, the screen shows three buttons (I've prayed, Wallah, Remind me in 10 min), and emergency calls always work.
How FivePrayer works
FivePrayer uses your device's GPS to find your location, picks the right calculation method for your country (Kemenag in Indonesia, Diyanet in Türkiye, MWL elsewhere, with full override support for ISNA, Egyptian, Umm al-Qura, Karachi, and more), then computes the next 30 days of prayer times on-device. The Qibla compass uses the device's magnetometer with a great-circle calculation, and works offline.
When adhan arrives, FivePrayer uses native Screen Time APIs on iOS and accessibility services on Android to lock the phone. The lock screen presents three actions and exits automatically once you've prayed. The streak tracker rewards consistency, not perfection: miss a day and the streak holds, with a Qadha tracker that lets you make up missed prayers.
Privacy at FivePrayer
FivePrayer is built privacy-first. All prayer times, streaks, location data, and prayer logs stay on your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync (unless you explicitly enable an iCloud or Google Drive backup that's encrypted with your own keys), and we never sell or share your data. We don't run third-party trackers in the app, and the website uses minimal analytics for understanding which pages help people the most.

FivePrayer's website and content library are available in eight languages: English, Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia), Arabic (العربية), Urdu (اردو), Turkish (Türkçe), Malay (Bahasa Melayu), French (Français), and German (Deutsch). The library includes prayer guides, Quran reader, Hajj and Umrah guides, Ramadan guides, Adhkar, and accurate prayer times for 60+ cities worldwide.
